The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ekiti State, Dr. Oluwole Oluyede, has congratulated Osun State Governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on his victory in the just-concluded governorship election.
Oluyede also saluted the people of Osun State for their courage, resilience and determination to stand against oppression and defend their democratic rights, describing the election outcome as a victory for the people and a reaffirmation of the power of the ballot.
In a statement issued after the declaration of the result, Oluyede said the people of Osun had demonstrated that democracy remains strongest when citizens are allowed to freely choose their leaders without fear, intimidation or undue interference.
He commended Governor Adeleke for the victory and urged him to regard the renewed mandate as a call to greater service, inclusiveness and accountability to all the people of Osun State, irrespective of political affiliation.
Oluyede particularly commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership role and for allowing the will of the majority of Osun people to prevail in the election.
According to him, the President’s approach to the Osun election demonstrated that democratic institutions and the electorate must be respected, regardless of political interests.
He noted that allowing the people to freely express their choice through the ballot is essential to strengthening public confidence in Nigeria’s democratic process.
“By allowing the will of the majority of Osun people to prevail, Mr. President has demonstrated that the interest of democracy and the people must remain paramount. I commend him for providing the leadership that allowed the people to freely exercise their constitutional right to choose their governor,” Oluyede said.
The PDP chieftain further described the outcome of the election as an important message to political leaders across the country that the people must always be respected and their choices protected.
He urged Governor Adeleke to use the renewed mandate to deepen development, unite the people of Osun State and ensure that the benefits of governance reach every community.
Oluyede wished Adeleke a successful second term in office, while congratulating the people of Osun State for what he described as a peaceful assertion of their democratic will.
He added that the Osun election should serve as a reminder that the ultimate power in a democracy belongs to the people, and their mandate must always be respected.
