Oluyede: I Remain a PDP Member; My 2027 Priority Is Tinubu’s Re-Election

ABUJA — Dr. Oluwole Olumayokun Oluyede, former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election, has clarified that he remains a committed member of the PDP, stressing that nothing has changed about his membership of the party.

Oluyede said his present political engagement in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 should not be interpreted as his defection from the PDP or an attempt to change his political identity.

He explained that the immediate assignment before him and his supporters is to contribute to the mobilisation and support for President Tinubu’s re-election, which he described as a project that requires the participation of Nigerians across political divides.

“I remain a member of the Peoples Democratic Party. Nothing has changed about that. My support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 should not be misconstrued as a departure from the PDP.

“For now, the assignment at hand is clear: to work for the re-election of President Tinubu. I believe we can belong to different political parties and still work together in the larger interest of our state and country,” Oluyede said.

The former governorship candidate also invited all his admirers, supporters, friends and political associates across different political parties and groups to join the Tinubu 2027 project, stressing that the invitation does not require anyone to abandon their political affiliation.

“Let me make this very clear: I am inviting all my admirers across all political groups and parties to join hands with us. Nobody is being forced to leave his or her political party, and nobody is being compelled to join OPARHA.

“You can remain wherever you are politically and still support this particular project. This is not about asking people to change political parties. The assignment before us now is the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027,” he said.

Oluyede called for a broad-based mobilisation of Ekiti people across political, professional, community and social divides, saying all hands must be on deck to secure an overwhelming victory for President Tinubu in the state.

He expressed the ambition of delivering Ekiti State with as much as 90 per cent support for President Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

“We must put all hands on deck to deliver Ekiti 90 per cent for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027. This cannot be the responsibility of one person or one political group. It requires everybody who believes in the project to contribute,” Oluyede stated.

He also called on his supporters and political associates to work closely with Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, in the collective effort to secure victory for President Tinubu.

According to him, political differences should not prevent stakeholders from cooperating when there is a shared objective that can advance the interests of Ekiti State.

Oluyede described himself as a bridge-builder who has consistently maintained relationships across political parties in Ekiti, saying his primary interest remains the development and prosperity of the state.

“I have always believed that politics should not destroy relationships or prevent people from working together. I have been a bridge between political tendencies in Ekiti, and I intend to continue to play that role.

“My interest is not personal. My interest is Ekiti. It is about the greater good of our people and how we can collectively create a better future for the state,” he said.

He urged his admirers and supporters not to be distracted by speculation about his political position, reiterating that his PDP membership remains intact while his present political priority is to support President Tinubu’s re-election.

Oluyede further urged all stakeholders who support the 2027 Tinubu project to put aside unnecessary differences and work together peacefully.

“We can disagree on many political issues and still find common ground on issues that affect our people. For me, the immediate priority is President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

“Let us work together, let us work with Governor Biodun Oyebanji, and let us mobilise Ekiti across political divides. The goal is a strong, peaceful and united effort to deliver Ekiti for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.
